After going for many years to Cyclades, the islands in the centre of Greece, I decided it was about time to visit the ones that are a bit further away, right next to Turkey, so Kos stood out from the very beginning!

Therefore, I convinced my travel friend and we flew over there! Just a 40 minute flight from Athens.

Kos is a big island compared to others. One with beautiful hotels and lovely beaches. However, the hotel that captured my attention this time was Aqua Blu Hotel & Spa! A wonderful adults only hotel, right in front of the beach. A beach that was perfectly organised, clean and not very crowded, an essential element for our choice.

Apart from the beautiful beach, Aqua Blu Hotel and Spa has a big swimming pool, a jacuzzi and many private, quite large, swimming pools in the ground floor suites! Our experience at the Tamaris Spa was one of the best. The amazing masseuse helped us unwind and eventually get energised. The atmosphere there was unique. The big indoors swimming pool, the private nail beauty spot and the sauna were also a much needed secret of this beautiful hotel!

This 5-star adults-only hotel offers 53 spacious suites, a beachfront location as I mentioned above, a surprise award-winning restaurant; Cuvee, a state-of-the-art spa, a pool-facing outdoor terrace, a fabulous cocktail bar and sunsets to die for!

The suites are well equipped with all you need. My personal favourite was the silver mesh beach bag that you can also keep after your stay there!

What is more, exceptional service and unrivalled standards and voilà, perfection personified!

Every morning we started with the most delicious breakfast with local products and beautiful smiles by the very kind waiters and it literally made our day!

My personal favourite was the King Size bed and the fact that we could rent a boat and visit the nearby islands like Kalymnos and Nisyros!

Something unique was the fact that they have won various awards. Customer Excellence, Hotel of the Year and Culinary ones. And if you ask me they totally deserve it! For anyone who needed to explore the island of Kos, their dedicated and discerning team knew which places you should visit, where you should eat, where to find those treasured and hidden gem locations and how to get the most out of your stay on Kos! Apart from the beautiful boutique inside the hotel, I did my extra shopping at Del Mare Boutique Kos and decided that my top favourite beach on the island is Agios Stefanos in Kefalos, exactly next to the must see ruins of the Basilica. Don’t forget to visit Zia village with the mesmerising views and Hippocratic Foundation, where Hippocratic, the father of Medicine, grew his herbs that heeled the ancient world!

Kos and Aqua Blue Resort and Spa is big yes from me, too!
