The Woman’s Board of the Winnetka Community House presents the 2017 Antiques + Modernism Winnetka Show (A+M Show) at Winnetka Community House opening with a Preview Party on Thursday, November 2, and running from Friday, November 3 to Sunday, November 5.  I had an opportunity to speak with Christina Cripe, who is the Chair of this year’s A+M Show about the show and her role. Attending the show last year, I could not decide which way to look first, and this year’s show promises to be just as captivating, if not more so.

As a board member for the last four years, Christina was selected to chair the event this year and is honored to serve in this capacity. This event has been held over the last sixty years.  Earlier on there were two shows – on was Antiques and the other was Modernism but they have worked well together for many years.

Of the 45 vendors that are present this year, about 75% are returning and some are new this year. There are fans that attend from neighboring states, including buyers from Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan. The opening events and classes make the event very important for designers and decorators, but it is an enjoyable experience for those not purchasing to just look at the gorgeous items displayed.

On Sunday, November 5th, the last day of the show, a new event will be added.  This is a trolley ride to various homes where the antiques and modern items will be displayed to demonstrate to potential buyers, how the items can look.  If desired, the items can be purchased from these displays.
